  • Serial numbers — do they match the shipping manifest? If one is off, ask why. I rejected a batch in 2023 because 8 serial numbers didn't match. Turned out the distributor had swapped in older stock.

  • USA content requirements — if the project requires Buy America or IRA-additional domestic content, verify whether the modules were assembled in the US (like Trina's Wilmer, Texas facility) or imported. The label on the module may say 'Assembled in USA' but the cells could still be sourced overseas.
  • Storage conditions — panels sitting in a warehouse for 8 months before installation may have degraded. Ask for the manufacturing date on the label. Stock older than 12 months may need retesting.
